When bold outlines, crisp contours and repeating shapes decorate a wall, they trigger associations with contemporary art more than with interior design.
Like an expression of minimalist sculpture, Wired blurs the boundaries between art and design. The system is comprised of single units that align vertically to form open shelving for storage or display. The supporting brackets are crafted from steel parts integrated into each shelf, which stack upwards to create a vertical shelving system. An individual shelf can be used on its own, or several shelves staggered along the same wall to create a flexible display system. Wired’s versatility makes it ideal for a range of uses, while the system’s ability to grow in scale enables it to cover walls of all sizes.
Known eponymously as Morten & Jonas, Norwegian designers Morten Skjærpe Knarrum and Jonas Norheim need no further introduction. They established their studio in Bergen, Norway after receiving masters degrees from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design.
The designers create cutting-edge products, furniture and interior architecture marked by curiosity, imagination and humour. Morten & Jonas’s point of difference is being able to add design to social agendas, famously enlisting the help of incarcerated men and women to manufacturer their Bake Me a Cake table lamp in 2013.
Since then, Morten & Jonas have produced a second and third design for Northern Lighting – the multi-functional Say My Name lamp and Me floor lamp – as well as earning several awards and having their work exhibited internationally.
