Timo Ripatti

Educated as a Furniture Designer and Architect, Timo Ripatti has worked widely in the design field. His work history varies from lighting and furniture design to large-scale architectural, exhibition, and interior design projects in Finland and abroad with occasional participation in art gallery exhibitions.

Now he leads the design company STUDIO RIPATTI in Helsinki. The studio is working mainly in the field of product design with clients across the Europe.

His mission is to combine aesthetic, poetic, and functional qualities into his work. He strives to design human-scale products that work in a perfect balance with the space and architecture. He is dedicated to working with the brands of the highest quality in the means of vision, production technology, service and sustainability.

Awards include the Furniture of the Year Award in Finland (2009), Furniture Designer of the Year Award in Finland (2010), Red Dot Honorary mention (as a member of Kone design Team, 2012), Lexus Creating Amazing Award by Lexus Finland (2013), NYCxDESIGN Award at ICFF, New York (2016). Timo Ripatti has been working as a jury member of iF award (2015), and he is a lecturer of furniture design in Aalto University in Helsinki and in the Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts.

Exhibited works are found in museums, galleries and design festivals such as Salone del Mobile (IT), MUDEC, Milano (IT), La Triennale di Milano (IT), London Design Festival (GB), Stockholm Design Week (SE), Meet my Project, Paris (F), Living Design Centre, Tokyo (J), Finnish – Norwegian Cultural Institute, Oslo (N), Finnish Institute, Stockholm (SE), Bella Center, Copenhagen (DK), National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (IND), Month of Design, Ljubljana (SLO), Finnish Glass museum (FI), Habitare (FI), Design Forum Showroom (FI), Highlight Gallery (FI), Design Museum Helsinki (FI).

In 2016, he created the U-Light collection for Axolight.
