“I just kept the same Emeco DNA and evolved it into a new light and comfortable chair", the SoSo stool is handmade of 80% recycled aluminum, by Emeco craftsmen using the same process Emeco has employed to fabricate the famous 1006 Navy Chair since 1944.

French designer Jean Nouvel drew upon his “philosophy of nothingness” to create the simple, lightweight, Emeco “Soso Collection” of chairs and barstools. “I just kept the same Emeco DNA and evolved it into a new light and comfortable chair. Working with Emeco is like being in a field of wheat. The crop is grown and my job was to simply harvest,” -Jean Nouvel.

The lightweight and durable chairs and stools are all handmade of 80% recycled aluminum, by Emeco craftsmen in the factory in Pennsylvania, USA, using the same process Emeco has employed to fabricate the famous 1006 Navy Chair since 1944.

"Jean Nouvel has really managed to take the back bone of Emeco and leverage a new vocabulary,” says Emeco’s CEO, Gregg Buchbinder. Together Emeco and Jean Nouvel have highlighted the sustainable philosophy of using what others discard to make something beautiful and long lasting.

American furniture manufacturer Emeco’s first product was a US government commission to make lightweight, heavy-duty chairs for the US Navy.
