SAMA, which in Sanskrit means ‘circle’, is the name we have given to our range of nesting trays. Each piece is deep drawn – or pressed – from a 1mm sheet of brass or copper. The trays have a nice weight about them and are available in three sizes that sit within each other for easy storage. They have been lacquered so won’t change in appearance over time. Each SAMA Colour Tray * is deep drawn – or pressed - from a 1mm sheet of aluminium and then powder-coated in one of four colours. The trays come in three sizes that sit within each other for easy storage. They are perfect for everyday use and very durable.
* Our SAMA Colour Trays are produced in small batches and don’t have any holes we can use to hold them in place while they are being powder-coated. As a result there are two small pin-sized uncoated points near the edges of the handles. Please contact us if you have any concerns.
AYASA, which in Sanskrit means ‘of metal’, was our first collection and embodies what we set out to do as an Indian design studio. Our idea then – and now – was to celebrate the quiet but considered functionality of Indian household objects that are often not considered design pieces, but absolutely should be. In Indian and the subcontinent materials such as copper and brass are used for eating and drinking rather than just decoration. This collection celebrates the idea that beauty and utility can be in balance.
