Wood is a great ally of cozy lighting. It is a material that is hard to mold, a challenge that the Ginger collection neatly resolves.
The combination of sheets of wood, paper, and resins pressed together under high pressure achieves a laminate that appears almost entirely flat, which discreetly lights up spaces with indirect light. The Ginger collection has been expanded over time to provide solutions to different lighting needs and is available in pendant, table, wall, and floor lamp versions. This time, we are adding a new, smaller suspension lamp, a portable table lamp, another version of a wall lamp with a movable arm, and three different sizes of flush-mount wall lamps. This year we present the new version of Ginger in metal, which offers the same reflected, warm, glare-free light that helps to accentuate spaces. This material is applied to some models of the collection with different finishes: brass, black and white outside, and brass and white inside. A new, lighter option that’s refined, almost like a sculpture. Also new in the Ginger collection is the size of the wall version, with a 20-centimeter diameter and which, along with the rest of the collection, can be installed as a set to yield a static, almost artistic object, circles where the metal finish is smooth to the touch and pleasing to the eyes. With these two highly diverse materials –wood and metal– the Ginger turn into a versatile collection, rounding out the circle and offering a lamp for every lighting and decorating need.
Joan Gaspar
He studied industrial design in the school of Artes y Oficios in Barcelona. In 1988 started work for VAPOR S.A manufacturing minimalist lamps. From 1992 collaborated with a variety of firms to create new product lines: Roca, Resol, Marset, Mobles 114, Perobell, Santa&Cole, DAE, Vilagrasa, Made Design.
From 1996 collaborated closely with the company Marset Iluminación, developing new products, and product direction for the company. His work has been selected on a variety of occasions for the awards at FAD.
In 1995 received first prize in the Furniture Competition of the Comunidad Castilla la mancha, and in 2000 wins the first prize at the Valencia International Furniture Fair.
In 2001 was awarded with the Delta de Plata for the Atlas range of lamps, and in 2005 for the Neón de Luz, both designed for Marset Iluminación.
Since 1998 Joan has given classes in Materials and technology applied to industrial design, at Elisava School of design in Barcelona. In 2002 opened a professional design Studio in Barcelona working with various companies on new product concepts.
Marset is about more than lamps: we take care of light, in its different nuances and effects, to create atmospheres with character and improve our clients’ quality of life.
