The harmonious encounter with the stylistic elements of the past defines the new N.200 lounge chair designed by Michael Anastassiades, a refined expression of the genetic code of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna and of its profound vocation for design investigation.

Ideal trait dunion with the history of the brand and the tradition of curved wood that has its roots in over two centuries of design culture. In continuity with the historical tradition of naming the seats with a growing numbering, N.200 celebrates the two hundred years since the foundation of the very first carpentry workshop started by Michael Thonet in Boppard in 1819. In a profound stylistic harmony, the well-known designer has interpreted the archetypes of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna with his poetic and at the same time rigorous trait: steam-bent wood and Vienna straw. Characteristic elements of N.200 where method and form design a timeless seat, deliberately dry in its minimalist elegance. Sharing the Company with the designer is precisely the attention to detail: the wooden structure is characterized by the curvatures that apparently form the armrests and feet, expressing the manufacturing quality of GTV, while the Vienna straw seat and back contribute to define the absolute lightness of the project.

Michael Anastassiades

is a Cypriot designer based in London. He opened his studio in 1994 with the aim of exploring the contemporary notions of culture and aesthetics through the combination of products, furniture and environmental design. In balance between fine arts and design, his works are born to arouse dialogue, participation and interaction. Minimalist and functional, almost taken for granted, its objects give off an unexpected vitality. Anastassiades is present with his works in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Crafts Council in London, the FRAC Center in Orléans and the MAK in Vienna. His most recent solo shows include "Time And Again" at the Geymüllerschlössel / MAK in Vienna, "To Be Perfectly Frank" at Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm, an installation at the Norfolk House Music Room of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and a project to celebrate the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, Atelier Jespers Brussels. He has collaborated with several important producers including Flos, Puiforcat, Lobmeyr and Svenskt Tenn. In 2007, he opened his production company with the same name, creating a collection of lighting products, furniture, jewelery and table objects. The philosophy of the studio is a constant search for eclecticism, individuality and timeless quality in design. Michael studied civil engineering at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London before earning a master's degree in industrial design from the Royal College of Art.
