Effortless and timeless, Nicholai Wiig Hansen’s My Chair from 2013 is just about as close as you get to a new classic: a minimal chair in moulded veneer, that moves gently with your body.

The rounded corners and curved waist counterbalance the stringent design of the chair and give it a warm and welcoming feel. My Chair is the result of designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen’s vision of the perfectly balanced chair: ”My aim was to design a chair with unequaled harmony and to try and come close to the indefinable quality that, in my opinion, lifts a design to another level." The rubber pieces between the shell and the legs, as well as the plastic parts underneath the ends of the legs, are specially designed for Normann Copenhagen for My Chair.

Nicholai Wiig Hansen

Nicholai Wiig Hansen has had his own design studio since he was 26 years old. When Nicholai designs he uses himself as the target group. Proportions are extremely important in his work and details are not added from a decoration perspective but only if they serve some kind of purpose.

He is inspired by everything that surrounds him and especially art, food, nature and machinery. When Nicholai Wiig Hansen designs a new product, he always thinks the product to end in his head before sketching a single drawing. Everything from production to form and all the way to the end-user perspective.
