Norm.Architects finds exciting new ways in an ancient Nordic tradition of wood and glass. Though perfectly suited as a lamp, Milk adds more than light to your home.
With Milk it was Norm.Architects intention to create a soft light that could be placed in all corners of the home to create a cosy atmosphere. Being featured in an array of interior magazines, design blogs and on social media over the last few years they have surely succeeded.
Graduates from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, together they bring an elegant equilibrium to their multi-disciplinary projects, from architecture, design, interiors and photography to branding, identities and art direction. Norm Architects’ award-winning portfolio reflects a cross-breeding of beliefs rooted in challenging the norm, hence their name. Spaces full of life, light and ambience. Natural materials with a tactile feel. Meticulously crafted designs that are simple, soulful and enduring.
Their idea of perfection is to capture the essence of an idea to reveal its intrinsic, unadorned beauty. Reaching a point where there’s nothing to add
or subtract.
Milk NA1 by NORM Architects reflects their notion that lighting shouldn’t be an afterthought, but rather an integral part of a holistic space. Inspired by the classic Nordic milk stool, place the “Milk” lamp anywhere for a subtle glow with a soothing Zen effect. “Once again, Norm Architects bring a clean look with character to objects that enhance your experience of space,” says Martin Kornbek Hansen. As the architects who created the interior of our &tradition showroom HQ, we gravitate towards their unpretentious approach to timeless, sensory design.
The NA furniture collection was inspired by the contrast between sandblasted oak or stained ash and steel tubes either unpolished or painted. The iconic design of the table and stools are typical of NORM Architects’ purity of purpose. As well as the idea of unadorned beauty seen in the wood, which ages grace-fully over time. “Their juxtaposition of the raw and the refined is a detail that’s very discrete,” remarks Martin Kornbek Hansen. “They’ve re-introduced an iconic everyday shape by refining it in a contemporary look that defies time.”
