In collaboration with German contemporary artist Michael Riedel, e15 presents a limited edition of table Anton featuring a laser etched table top with motives especially created by Riedel within his ‘Art Material’ series.
Shown in the highly acclaimed ‘CV’ exhi- bition at Kunsthalle Zurich, in 2017 ‘Art Material’ is characterised by a never-ending process of overlapping text blocks, resulting in areas dense with white text set on a monochrome black surface. For the limited edition, twelve motives have been created and are laser etched into matte white table tops made from a laminated material to reveal the underlying black core. The resulting three dimensional effect presents an intriguing contrast to the minimal and linear silhouette of table Anton which was originally designed by e15 co-founder and architect Philipp Mainzer. The table reflects the brand’s philosophy based on consistent, progressive design coupled with highgrade materials.
Born in Germany, Philipp Mainzer studied product design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, and architecture at the Architectural Association both in London. In 1995, Philipp Mainzer co-founded the modern furniture brand e15. Having established the progressive, enduring philosophy and unique branding of e15, he has received international awards for many of his designs, which are identifying icons for e15 and part of several permanent exhibitions in museums.
Parallel to the creation of e15, Philipp Mainzer practiced architecture in New York and continues to do so since his return to Germany in 2001. He is a member of the executive committee of German Design Council and regularly gives lectures on architecture, design and branding. Philipp Mainzer is creative and managing director of e15 and his architecture office Philipp Mainzer Office for Architecture and Design.
e15 stands for consistent, progressive design coupled with high-grade materials and innovative, handcrafted production methods.
