Mega Bulb, though superior in size, is actually the younger sister of Bulb, first blown five years after in 2006.
Just as beautiful, just as elegant, Mega Bulb is the answer to all requests for poetic lightning in larger rooms and spaces. The small irregularities in the mouth blown glass make each of the pendants one of a kind and add the story of the glass master’s personal efforts in changing sand, soda and chalk into a modern classic using a thousand year old method. & Mega Bulb offers both high quality design and high quality light, being a perfect companion for the kitchen chef.
Soon after graduating from the Danish Design School in 2003, she opened her Copenhagen-based lighting design and production company Refer + Staer, where she is Partner and Creative Director. Her simple, streamlined designs have garnered her numerous awards, appearing in the private and commercial sector, such as restaurants, hotels, nightclubs and city councils worldwide.
Driven by a passion to find new ways to play with light, Refer uses the latest technology to create designs which signal Scandinavian simplicity with a touch of extravagance.
Ice Chandelier captures the essence of Refer’s aesthetic approach. A cluster of 9 bulbous pendants, it echoes the lavish appeal of classic crystal chandeliers with an asymmetrical twist. The hand-blown glass bulbs are large and unem- bellished, hanging in a delicate cascade that’s unquestionably elegant and contemporary. “Refer’s design clearly challenges our assumptions about chan- deliers,” notes Martin Kornbek Hansen. “At the same time, a variety of config- urations allow you to personalise the lamp. And the hand-blown glass is incorporated into the manufacturing. Reflecting our core concept of tradition tied to innovation.”
