Mark Holmes is an alumnus of the Norwich School of Art and the Slade School of Art, London. Besides maintaining his own showroom in London’s Oxo Tower since 1997, he also gained notoriety at trade fairs, including 100% Design in London and Salone Satellite in Milan.
Together with Sebastian Wrong, he founded the artist group “The Lane” in 2003, which since then has collaborated on the interior design of Stella McCartney outlets in London, Paris and South Korea as well as London’s Laban Centres. Since 2003, he has also been part of the London-based designer and artists’ group “Established & Sons”, which also includes Tom Dixon, Zaha Hadid and Jasper Morrison.
For e15, Mark Holmes developed a series of aluminum lights with designs, materials and workmanship that fit perfectly into e15’s existing collections. His aim was to produce a simple, modern interpretation of the classic desk light while keeping the number of components to a minimum and the construction simple. The proportions of his designs are as balanced as possible to provide the strongest possible focus on the element of light itself.
e15 stands for consistent, progressive design coupled with high-grade materials and innovative, handcrafted production methods.
