The seat is woven using untreated hemp or high-tech, black or white string; optionally also available with either vertical or horizontal weaving on the armrests. The vertically woven version features armrests covered in string; the horizontal version has armrests covered in leather or emphasised by snugly fitting beech, oak, walnut or plywood covers. As a soloist, each chair is unique: les copains high with the emphasised high backrest and optional headrest, the medium model with the moderate high back, the low and small models with low straight backs. The armrests can be open at the sides or with horizontal or vertical wickerwork, whereby the vertical wickerwork includes the top of the armrests. If the armrests are exposed at the top, they may be accentuated with wooden or leather inserts. The wickerwork can be renewed, the high-tech strings can be easily cleaned. A wide range of materials: woven parts in hemp or high-tech, armrests covered in string or leather, several types of colours and finishing for the frame, and armrest fittings in beech, oak, spruce, walnut or plywood make up various artistic combinations, giving each les copains chair – whether high, medium or low – an unmistakable character.
