HAL Sledge designed with a sledge base belongs to the comprehensive HAL family of chairs by Jasper Morrison. Its distinctive structure lends the chair excellent stability and unmistakeable character.
With HAL, he has reinterpreted the multifunctional shell chair and created a versatile family of chairs with a clean contemporary look. The shape of the seat shell provides great freedom of movement in a variety of sitting positions even sideways or astride the chair. The 15 different chair bases can be combined with a seat shell in polypropylene (HAL), in plywood (HAL Ply) or with a lightly padded shell covered in leather (HAL Leather). In the versions with a polypropylene shell and powder-coated base, HAL is also suitable for use in outdoor settings. As additional options, a fabric seat cover in various colours is available for all versions of HAL, and models with a plastic seat shell can be outfitted with a fixed seat cushion.The related HAL Armchair rounds out the HAL family.The HAL Tube stackable chair with a white plastic shell and limited edition ivory base is part of the "White Collection" and "Home Stories for Spring 2016". Glides
Colour matched to the small attachment parts for the seat shell, choice of white (except HAL Wood and HAL Ply Wood) or basic dark. All bases fitted with glides for carpet; felt glides optionally available for hard floors.
Base
Sledge base in chrome-plated tubular steel. Up to 6 chairs can be stacked on the floor, up to 15 chairs on the stacking trolley. Also available with ganging brackets.
Jasper Morrison
Known for thinking outside the box, Jasper Morrison is one of the most successful industrial designers of the past few decades. Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he defined the term 'super normal', which in his opinion answers the question of what 'good design' should really be. In his work, he strives to create good examples of understated, useful and responsible design. Morrison has developed several projects in collaboration with Vitra, including the Basel Chair, the Place Sofa and the HAL chair family. His designs are represented in New York's Museum of Modern Art and other prominent museum collections around the world.
