The Haiku sofa is an expressive and unique sofa from Danish/Italian design duo GamFratesi. Available in two or three seat sizes, with contrasting colours and fabrics on the outer and inner shell. This playful new design is an eye-catching conversation piece for any environment. It was love at first sight. At the Milan furniture fair 2011, Fredericia caught sight of a sofa that stood out with simple elegance among the many prototypes. Haiku had an exquisite quality about it, with echoes of the Finn Juhl classic, the Poet. Fredericia immediately knew that they had to produce it. The design duo behind it, GamFratesi, are from Italy and Denmark; an unexpected, but surprisingly harmonious, pairing. This is reflected in how Haiku effortlessly combines the simple with the expressive. The contrast repeats in the meeting between the rigid, enclosing shape of the exterior and the softer, more intimate interior. The name Haiku is chosen from the traditional Japanese poetry tradition of describing a mood in a few words. In the same way, GamFratesi has used simple means to create a sofa that both suggests a protective function and encourages a sense of expression. The sofa is based on a moulded foam shell, with legs of black lacquered steel, and is available in two and three-seat versions. Both the interior and exterior can be upholstered in a variety of textiles. Materials: The Haiku sofa is made of molded hard foam on a tubular steel frame with Nozag springs built in. It is covered in additional layer of foam. Seat frame is in molded cold foam. The legs have a black lacquered steel finish. The outside shell is available in fabric or leather, the inner upholstery, fabric only. Included with the sofa are coordinating loose cushions.
