Once Lambert set out to conquer the households with the line of seating furniture named Fred Astaire. This was the beginning of the heavy cane era. Lambert had endeavoured to create a piece of wicker furniture that could be equally matched with any upholstered furniture. At the same time, it was supposed to be even more robust. Upon the first presentation of Fred Astaire on the occasion of the furniture fair at Cologne in 1978, critics could not believe their eyes, for what they saw was the "Rolls Royce" of wicker furniture: round, with gently curved shapes that were convincing even from the backside thanks to the double-walled woven material. This popular Lambert classic now comes in a new, up-to-date interpretation providing higher seating comfort. The proportions of the new Fred Astaire correspond to those of modern lounge furniture. Thanks to this modification under consideration of contemporary design trends, Fred Astaire will integrate into any modern setting.
