The wonderfully steam bent back bow arches gracefully to create the classic high back, making the armchair a timeless piece, perfect for your living room or conservatory.
The Evergreen armchair echoes centuries of tradition combined with the latest upholstery levels of comfort. The seat cushion made from supportive foam and the back cushion constructed of a range of foams provides an upright, supportive sit. Extra support is added by the upturned arm rests which extend from either side of the back arch, supported by turned lists. Foam upholstered arm coverings make this chair a cosy sit. The high back on this lounge chair provides added support and the webbing on the base of the chair adds spring and comfort.
Classic Windsor wedge joints both provide great strength and a beautiful feature on the arms, whilst ercol comb joints provide great strength to the seat frame.
This Evergreen arm chair will be finished in your choice from six lacquer colours that protects the timber, whilst enabling you to choose the look to match your style and décor. You can also choose a black painted finish for a contemporary look.
We will make your chair in your choice from the wide selection of ercol fabrics from the ercol collection. Evergreen features a buttoned back cushion and so we do not recommend the use of striped fabrics with this chair.
Couple this chair with the Evergreen footstool for total relaxation.
Lucian R Ercolani, or the "Old Man" as he is affectionately know in the company, founded ercol in 1920. Born in Italy in 1888, Lucian's family moved to London in the 1890s. There he went to night school at the Shoreditch Technical Institute where he studied drawing, design and the theory and construction of furniture. In 1907 he made his first piece of furniture - a musical cabinet, inlaid with mother of pearl. Years later the company tracked this down and we still have it to this day.
Between 1910 to 1920, The Old Man worked in the design teams for what would later become Parker Knoll and G-Plan, before founding ercol in 1920. He designed the company's products for many years. The Windsor range remains one of our most popular ranges over half a century after it was first launched in its original guise, whilst a few years ago we reintroduced some of Lucian's classic designs, which now form the ercol Originals.
