Erbale is definitely one of the longest lasting projects in Driade store catalogue.

Designed in 1995, it was actually the “invention of a typology”, as nobody had never thought before to a “screen-tent” constructed with plastic bags to contain plants and water. Erbale has also become one of the symbol of the rising Italian designers’ new generation.

Becchelli, Bortolani, Maffei

Fabio Bortolani, gradueted in architecture, begins his design activity in 1993 with a specialization in forniture and objects. He works with several italian and foreing companies. In 1997 he won the design plus prize in frankfurt, in 2001 the selection compasso d'oro. Since 2004 he has been teaching at politecnico of milan and in 2005 exhibited his objects in Toyama, Japan. Stefano Maffei was born in Sassuolo (Modena) in 1966, lives and works in Milan. He holds an architectural degree with a thesis in industrial design, since 1997 he has been teaching at politecnico of Milan. He has also been a researcher for the national research agency sistema design italia since 1998 and he is one of the co-founders minimo design consulting, a strategic design consulting firm. He published some books for electa, scheiwiller, abitare segesta. architect and designer partecipates to many design events. in collaboration with fabio bortolani and walter becchelli, realized some design projects, that won several prizes such as “young & design” design competition (1995) with the bookshelf ombra and the flower-box erbale for driade. Some of their projects appear in the permanent design collections of important international museums (albert museum, london; kunstantwerk museum, frankfurt).
