Taking its name from the Latin word for “extend,” the Duca candleholder does exactly that: by loosening the screw on its slender stem, the height of the design can be adjusted as the candle burns.
Discovering a simple mechanical detail used to extend the height of objects while working with a blacksmith, the Danish design studio Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen put the small yet significant detail to work as a key element of the new Duca candleholder. Challenging the typically static silhouette of the object, the screw function allows users to personalise the height of the candleholder by extending or shortening its length. Available in polished brass or bronzed brass entwined with rattan, Duca pairs contrasting natural materials to create a tactile addition to MENU’s collection of interior objects.
MENU is a Danish design brand with a simple yet significant purpose: to enrich modern living through designs that connect individuals creatively, comfortably and functionally.
