Named for the native word meaning ‘friendship’, the Dost dining chair was inspired by one of our most basic human needs: comfort.
This inviting, cosy chair has been designed to provide a sense of solace and safety. Whether you’re having a diner with friends or just want to read a paper, a few moments resting on a Dost dining chair will be as comforting as a cuddle from an old chum. The design style of Rianne Koens can be described as friendly and clear, with round shapes and the use of soft, natural materials. This is reflected in the way Dost is designed: a combination of clear lines with a soft coating. Base iv available in steel and wood.
Istanbul-based Dutch designer Rianne Koens has spent half her life in Turkey, a country and culture which deeply inspire her work. Her Dost collection for Puik is no exception. "I designed a collection that you can use in any situation in which space is limited, like the corner of your bedroom or living room. It’s compact, but it’s still very comfortable. That’s something I always care about. Dost is a collection in which you can be a little bit lazy, you can rest. Though it’s a kind of active comfort you’re getting. People say when they see my work they really want to touch it, and it’s the same with Dost. It's round edges are soft and friendly-looking, but it’s still a clean shape."
