Sancal Casta Sancal Casta Sancal Casta

José Manuel Ferrero, of Estudi{H}ac, presents two chairs and an easy chair based on a castanet, one of the most emblematic Spanish instruments: the image of a lady clapping together two halves of clam-shaped wood is famous the world over. Just as two halves of clam-shaped wood are clapped together with a castanet, the armchair’s curved metal structure is made of two elements that have been welded into place. The Casta’s light structure is a radical departure from traditional thick, padded solutions for an armchair. By using fabrics that have been carefully tested by Sancal, even the need for elastic webbing has been eliminated. The cushions have been integrated into the cover itself to provide the comfort you would expect from a Sancal product. As the structure, in part, is provided by the fabric, this product is only available in Omega by Gabriel and the canvas fabric of sample book 102. The new incorporation of canvas enables any of the other fabrics from our collection to be used on the cushions: José Manuel has suggested a range of combinations with Coda from Kvadrat as a special edition. The cover is fixed to the structure on both sides, as if it were a hammock. The flap that covers the cushions and seating area cunningly conceals the seams. The metal structure is in a matte, textured finish to which warm, smooth ash wood armrests of the easy chair provide a contrast and remind us of the castanet’s wooden touch. The structure and armrests are available in: Black: structure black epoxy + armrests stained black + black piping. Grey: structure grey epoxy + armrests stained silk grey + grey piping. Brown: structure brown epoxy + armrests stained walnut colour + brown piping. Estudihac Estudihac is led by Jose Manuel Ferrero who, after an intense work experience with Oscar Tusquets, created his own industrial and interior design studio. After the nomination in the Elle Deco International Designs Awards, 2009 was his year, since the studio received two ADCV awards and a selection for the Delta awards for the legendary foundation ADI-FAD. The studio has been collaborating for years with Toyota Japan in the design of the interior of the iQ series. Beyond the automotive, in the habitat sector, the studio’s career is booming - with projects for Vondom, Punt Mobles, Porcelanosa and Gandia Blasco. Casta is his second design for Sancal, following the highly successful range of Tea seats.
