Cast Pendant takes inspiration from the traditional plumb weight – a weight hanging from a line used by masons and carpenters since Ancient Egypt to establish a true vertical.
An honest light, Cast Pendant embodies Menu’s philosophy of soft minimalism. Hang one lamp on its own or cluster several into an installation. The lamp is available in three variations, and a splitter allows for variety of configurations. Cast Pendant is designed for both commercial and residential use.
Thomas Chung & Jordan Murphy
Both based in Toronto, Canada, designers Tom Chung and Jordan Murphy share an appreciation for functional, honest design and new solutions focused on the human experience. The duo shares a keen interest in the history of objects – and the ways in which existing concepts can be adapted and transformed to meet modern needs. Tom Chung, a Vancouver-born industrial designer, established his eponymous studio in 2016. His work focuses on material objects and interior spaces, with an emphasis on human connection and relationships. The studio creates context-driven, industrial design pieces for domestic, Cast Sconce institutional and public environments using a unique process that draws upon contemporary culture and local industry. Jordan Murphy is a furniture and product designer who specializes in applying technical insight and curiosity to the creation of simple and thoughtful objects. As he works to create useful, aesthetic pieces capable of enriching our lives, Murphy continually reimagines the way products are designed, manufactured and used to promote the relationship between object and user. The Cast lighting series is Chung and Murphy’s first collaboration with MENU.
