For the Boiacca table, the formal imperfections in the cement, its porous surface and not perfectly square corners give it a material quality that is longlasting and changes over time. Each table is unique, not only due to the number inscribed under the top that distinguishes it but also to the variations in colour that are visible, at the time of casting, as a result of the humidity and air temperature. Although it is protected with a waterproof surface treatment, these variations in colour may continue throughout the life span of the product when it is left outdoors. The appearance of surface smears and small cracks in the cement, which do not influence the stability of the product, is practically inevitable and must be accepted.
