This design, which hope to premiere at M&O Paris in September 2020, is a art carpet par excellence. The latest creation from our hugely successful Kyoto Collection looks East to Japan and pushes the limits of contemporary carpet design weaving in Iran. The inspiration for this collection stems from contemporary Japanese textiles, with intricate bold designs and complex patterns. All carpets are woven using fine Persian wool from the Zagros Mountains which is hand-carded and hand-spun and dyed using 100% natural dyes.
Abstract designs are Gabbeh classics. Zollanvari have produced modern versions of these classics that have won recognition worldwide, including various Carpet Design Awards at DOMOTEX: ‘Broken Waves’ was named Best Modern Design in 2009 and ‘Mirage’ Best Modern Design Superior in 2010. Abstract & Plain Gabbehs are available in both Amaleh and Kashkuli qualities. We also offer carpets in natural colours (undyed wool) and single colours with a mesmerizing abrash effect in our Shekarlou range, which is woven by Turkmen tribes in northern Iran. The Shekarlou carpets are lighter due to the use of a single weft between rows of knots.
