This new design for the Art Deco Kelim Collection presents three stylised palm leaves in a minimalist contemporary fashion. The effect is contemporary and subtle. It combines the Baneh technique of skilfully stitched-together flatweave sections with a new aesthetic spirit: the fusion of the intricate delicacy of 'minimalist' inspired Mazandaran kelims with the elegance of Art Deco style. This design can be made in bespoke sizes and colours. The finest undyed highland wool from the Zagros Mountains of Iran, hand-carded and hand-spun, is used to weave the subtle design of this flatweave. The stitching together of the strips creates a ‘triptych’ that resonates with traditional Persian tribal kelim designs. Woven in south-central Iran, the continuance of this technique typical of northern Persian flatweaves is sustained.
