One of the latest designs to emerge from the Kyoto Ikebana Collection, this is another Zollanvari Studio creation. All things Japanese were all the rage in the late 19th century and greatly inspired the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements. But the flow of inspiration worked both ways since these styles travelled back to Japan influencing meisen kimonos, which used abstract, floral and geometric designs. Ikebana is the Japanese art of formal flower arrangement with special regard shown to balance, harmony and form. Our Kyoto Ikebana Enlarged Peonies is a celebration of these themes.
This collection was created originally in collaboration with the Milanese designers SoFar SoNear (www.sofarsonear.com) but has been developed since. When the Sofar SoNear team first saw our Kundan Silk carpets they were inspired and immediately associated the astonishing weaving and dyeing with the world of fashion. The beauty of some iconic fabrics was the ideal inspiration for the Couture collection. Style gurus have proclaimed that fashion and design live in symbiosis, nurturing each other. The Couture Collection confirms this trend. Available in any size, this collection offers a bespoke option for architects and interior designers who wish to personalize the patterns according to their needs.
