From a compact piece of furniture to a complex system: Flötotto has refined the ADD programme designed by Werner Aisslinger The modular system furniture ADD, now ready for the market and even more customisable, showcases its full potential at the Salone del Mobile 2014 in Milan. The latest version exploits the system’s full potential and offers even greater flexibility: perfect as both a compact, self-contained unit in the form of containers, sideboards and side tables or as a system that offers users limitless design freedom according to individual needs. The system’s ingenious, clip-on-and-off technique allows for easy changes in both the arrangement and colour scheme of drawers and panel pieces. The innovative feature in the construction of ADD is a patented and cleverly designed plastic joint that comes with two advantages: First it seamlessly connects the timber profiles to form a structural frame, hiding the joint within the node itself. Second, it introduces a new and simple installation technique, in which the nodes feature fasteners that simply clip onto and off other elements such as front, side and back panels. Elements can easily be changed or added at any time. ADD is a system that can be modified and extended according to the user’s ideas and needs. ADD: both individual furniture units and a system. The modular system comes in attractive colors and includes a number of self-contained units that can be used universally and can be extended to create complete solutions. ADD works like a construction kit providing unlimited options, adapting instantly to changing lifestyles: if necessary, the system can be modified easily and effortlessly. With the lengths, depths and widths of individual modules combining perfectly, ADD provides all the benefits of a sophisticated system. Users can choose from a wealth of individual design options to create their very own piece of furniture. ADD and the Flötotto DNA: After the successful 2012 launch of the PRO line of chairs for schools and for both the contract and domestic markets, ADD continues the approach of interpreting the Flötotto tradition in a contemporary manner. The classic Flötotto profile system, a successful longrunner that has formed a significant part of the brand’s image since the 1970s, is now followed by the new ADD generation of system furniture, which was originally launched at the imm cologne 2013. CEO Frederik Flötotto says: “One of our strengths is the treatment of wood. ADD is not a successor to our successful container system; it is an entirely new system based on the brand’s DNA. Werner Aisslinger is a renowned expert in modular systems. The combination of both his and our special expertise was an ideal match for the development of ADD.” Werner Aisslinger adds: “ADD literally contains a ‘hidden hero’ since the highly complex joint is integrated into the load-bearing wooden elements in such a way that it remains invisible from the outside. This gives the system an elegant, domestic look. Offering all the benefits of a system, ADD also works perfectly when used as a stand-alone unit.” ADD Details: • Modular system furniture for both the contract and domestic markets, including open and closed shelving units, sideboards, lowboards, highboards, chests of drawers and other storage units • Innovative construction using a concealed, intelligent plastic joint (innovative design developed especially for this system, patent pending); clip-on-and-off technology for front elements and for side and back panels using metal fasteners • Slim frame construction made of solid oak, bleached and painted • Doors, front, side and back elements made of painted MDF • 7 Colours: white, sand, mint, umber grey, coral rose, light blue
