Zilio A&C - Arkad collection

Note Design Studio creates arched pouffes

Note Design Studio has created a modular series of ribbed pouffes, inspired by the architectural form of an arcade, for Italian furniture brand Zilio A&C.

The Arkad collection, named after the Swedish word for arch, includes a curved module and two straight ones in different lengths. Each piece is made up of four thick slices of polyurethane foam with rounded tops, squashed together like a loaf of bread.

Each slice of a module has a piped border running all the way round, so you can clearly see the division between the segments. You can create circular compositions with the arched pieces, use them as a corner unit or combine them with the straight modules in any way you like.

Arched shapes make up one of five key trends that in our report, which explores aesthetic themes that we feel are defining the furniture and accessories releases of this year.

The foam is upholstered in textiles from Dutch brand Febrik (now owned by Kvadrat) and German company Rohi, with rich colours like burgundy, mustard yellow and a speckled royal blue used to capture the depth and chunkiness of the pouffes.
