Steel surrounds velvet in futuristic armchair
Sleek stainless steel and smooth velvet brings a lustrous sheen to this wide armchair created by Paris brand Youth Editions.
Called Poltrona Apollo, the chair has thick armrests that curve all the way around the back of its rounded square seat. They’re encased in steel on the outside and upholstered in velvet on the inside to match the seat. The curved piece is fixed to the outside of the neat velvet block and stops just short of the front edge, exaggerating the chair’s chunky composition.
The upholstered foam seat sits on top of a thick steel base in the same shape. The base stands on discrete feet that lift the chair away from the ground, creating space underneath to lighten its blocky body.
The futuristic chair was launched alongside a desk and mirror as part of the brand’s new Odyssey collection and each is produced in limited edition run of 12.
