Toru- Refix chair

Wood left over from tanning process used to make chair

Barcelona brand Toru has made angular chair frames out of ash wood from dismantled barrels that were once used for tanning leather.

The Refix chair’s wooden frame has a rich tone that it absorbed through the leather tanning process, and it complements the depth of colour in the vegetable-tanned leather seat. The leather is glued and sewn onto the frame, while the relaxed backrest is supported by a leather strap with tabs poking out through little holes in the wood on each side.

You can choose between natural, hazel, brown or black waxed leather for the seat.

Spanish designer and founder of Toru, Jordi Ribaudi, works out of a restored nineteenth century tannery, producing sculptural shapes with saddle leather.
