Pulpo - Cut lounge chair

Pulpo launches pleated leather chair

French designer Brichet Zeigler created a leather lounge chair for German brand Pulpo that crumples at the fold between the back and seat.

Brichet glued a single piece of tanned leather to a steel frame, allowing a relaxed, organic crease to form at the fold. Called Cut, the chair has a hole cut out between the seat and the back, which adds some lightness to the structure. It’s thin, flat legs are connected diagonally underneath the seat, supporting the leather with an x-shape.

There’s also an ottoman with a leather seat that curves up at the sides, and you can get both in either dark green or black leather with natural marks and wrinkles across the surfaces.

Pulpo launched the unusual chair at Maison&Objet alongside its equally unique Marelle rug that’s made up of four smaller rugs zipped together into one.
