Please Wait to be Seated - Arqui rugs

Kinfolk publishers design architectural rugs

Danish furniture brand Please Wait to be Seated has released a set of two architecturally inspired rugs, designed by the team behind Kinfolk lifestyle magazine.

The magazine’s editor in chief Nathan Williams based the designs on photographs that he took in Mexico, which capture silhouettes of buildings against a blank sky. The perspective of the shapes makes you feel like you’re looking up at the buildings from ground level. One comes in dusty shades of red and the other in varying tones of mossy green, carefully chosen to look like the sun is casting shadows across the walls.

The high-pile rugs are hand-woven in India in a blend of wool and viscose, a fibre with a similar texture to silk. They each come in two sizes and you can also use them as wall hangings.

Called Arqui 1 and 2, the two rugs mark the start of the brand’s Arch collection, to which they aim to add two rugs each year.
