Muuto - Outline Chaise Longue

Muuto adds chaise longue to Outline collection

Muuto has added an extra level of comfort to the popular Outline seating collection, in the form of a large sofa with a chaise longue at one end.

Displaying the same architectural presence as previous sofas and armchairs in the collection, the new piece features a generous extended section at the left or right. The thin powder-coated legs of the chaise longue run perpendicular to the others, so you can see the frame that joins them from the front or back.

Designed by Norwegian stars Anderssen & Vol, the Outline collection offers more comfort than you'd usually expect from such a light and linear shape, with a deep seat and wide squashy cushions to soften the thin platform and slender armrests.

The cushions are hand-sewn and filled with cold foam, and can be covered in a range of textiles from Kvadrat or Arve, or Silk leather from Camo. All pieces have a plywood and steel internal construction.

Options in the original series also include a two-seater, three-seater (which is larger but still has only two large cushions) and armchair. Last autumn Muuto released compact versions of the two-seater and armchair, called Outline Studio. The new generous chaise sofa is available now.

Creators Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll have been designing furniture and accessories for Muuto since 2008; they are also the brains behind the brand’s popular Oslo sofa family, which features a similar combination of starck shapes and slim aluminium legs, all softened with sculpted seat pads.
