Made in Ratio - Focus Table Collection

Made In Ratio showed an oak and Welsh slate coffee table in Milan

London-based brand Made In Ratio launched a coffee table with a Welsh slate surface resting on an x-shaped oak base in Milan.

Forming part of the brand’s Focus collection, the low-level table combines a blackened wood base with a dark Welsh slate surface. The base slots into recesses underneath its round wooden top, and the slate surface is heavy enough to sit on top with no fastenings. The surface has a circle cut out at the centre to reveal the wood grains of the ebonised oak base beneath.

Created by Tasmanian brand founder and sole designer Brody Neill, the Focus collection is the first project where the brand has worked with slate. The collection also includes a side table with the same x-shaped base and smooth slate surface. Both tables are available to order now.

Since founding Made in Ratio in 2013, Brody’s projects have focused on experimenting with the natural qualities of diverse materials, like the Pleat Bench made of Corian - a malleable acrylic material that he folded over to make a seat. He's also made use of bent plywood in the Cowrie collection, featuring sculptural chairs and benches that curve like seashells.
