Gärsnäs - Petite Chair

Gärsnäs makes chair with neatly crafted joints

Petite is a stackable café-culture chair with carefully crafted joints and curved contours from Swedish brand Gärsnäs.

The solid beech legs are milled into a gentle bow and glide up into the curved backrest made of compression moulded beech. The legs are glued to the back piece where it curves out to make room for a rounded groove, and you can see that join from above. The corners of the seat are rounded and the back edge is carved out to mimic the shape of the backrest.

Swedish designer David Ericsson studied at the Carl Malmsten School of Furniture in Stockholm with a focus on woodwork. His Madonna chair for Gärsnäs in 2015 features the same curved slender beech legs, and both chairs showcase his love for and skill in crafting this material.

Petite is available to order this spring in lacquered, oiled or waxed finishes as well as black, white, grey and brown wood stains.
