Fritz Hansen - Geo sculptures

Jaime Hayon creates smoked wood characters

Prolific Spanish designer Jaime Hayon has created these playful wooden pots shaped like a set of characters with abstract faces and removable hats for Danish brand Fritz Hansen.

There are two Geo sculptures, each made from pieces of smoked ash wood. The pieces are glued together and the prominent grains help to reinforce the shapes of each character’s face. You can lift the top off each one to reveal a little storage space inside.

The one with the top hat and long, vertical ears has a glass tube at its centre where you could place a single flower. The other has little round ears and a more conical lid with a flat top, which conceals a small bowl inside.

Their characterful faces stem from Jaime’s much-loved, quirky sketches and are similar to the faces found on his eccentric throws produced by Fritz Hansen.
