Cold Picnic - Desert Trilogy

Tunisian landscape inspires rug collection

A trilogy of films that take place in the Tunisian desert inspired this collection of abstract rugs from Brooklyn brand Cold Picnic.

The Desert Trilogy collection features five rugs each patterned with blocks of powdery colours in irregular shapes at different pile heights. They’re made to order by artisans in India and each rug comes in three different sizes. The collection is named after the Desert Trilogy films by Tunisian director Nacer Khemir, and the patterns on each rug loosley capture the themes of distant nostalgia explored in the films.

Desert Trilogy was launched this spring alongside The Passenger rug collection, which follows a similar theme of abstract shapes and block colours, taking its cues from a 1975 film that explores time and memory in a north African village.

Cold Picnic was originally founded in 2010 as an accessories brand, and has since branched out into soft interior furnishings.
