Coedition - Dao armchair

Shin Azumi gives sporty look to minimalist armchair

French brand Coedition’s Dao armchair created by Japanese designer Shin Azumi now comes in upholstered synthetic leather, giving it a sporting racing car aesthetic.

A strip of upholstered synthetic leather runs from the top of the minimalist lacquered metal frame down into the seat, a shape alluding to the chair’s name which means path or way in Chinese dialects. The plush synthetic leather adds a layer of luxury to this chair that was previously only available in veneer.

The angular frame is softened by gentle curves where the seat flicks over the back edge on either side of the backrest and rolls over the front edge between the two legs. The armrests splay out slightly to the sides, leaving lots of space around the seat itself to draw attention to its unusual composition. The frame comes in black or white and you can upholster the seat in different tones of leather.

Created by Japanese designer Shin Azumi, the Dao chair was designed for Coedition alongside the Dao stool with the same structure.
