Cassina - 905 chair

Cassina relaunches Vico Magistretti chair

Cassina has reissued a chair designed by Italian architect Vico Magistretti in 1964 with updated finishes and structural refinements, which they’ll show at Maison&Objet this week.

The 905 chair’s wooden body features gently curved armrests that slope down from the top of the back legs to the front. The legs are cylindrical and rounded at the ends with little feet that raise them off the ground and highlight their shape.

Cassina has remade the saddle leather seat as one piece that wraps over the edges to the underside of the chair, and the leather backrest is also made of one piece that leans back over a supporting leather belt.

The wooden frame, originally handmade in beech wood, now comes in solid ash or Canaletto walnut, while the saddle leather is available in 16 colours.
