Inspired by reclaimed timber and minimalist design. I build contemporary furniture from reclaimed timbers from my workshop in Cardigan, West Wales

My passion is working with wood that tells a story

My passion is working with wood that tells a story, timber that has had a life long before we carried it through the workshop doors. I do all I can to preserve that story. I consider each piece ensuring I keep the character that you just can’t recreate without time.

I design components around the timber that frame it and celebrate it. Folded and powder coated metal is my complementary material of choice. The clean geometry of the metal contrasts against the mottled surfaces of the reclaimed timbers. It still sends shivers down my neck and has me agonising over whether to sell my products.

I am feverishly passionate about sourcing as much as I can locally. I make my own beeswax furniture polish using beeswax from local bee-keepers. Where possible I source local timber which I love because it inherently comes with local stories.

My name is Ben Cramp and I am an award winning industrial designer who has worked for some of the design powerhouses in both the UK and Australia. After 14 fun years as a product designer I decided to combine a passion for furniture with sustainability. Jam's distinctive design language is a simple result of my selfish desire to create objects that he loves.

I started Jam in 2013' in Brisbane Australia and have now relocated to the coastal town of Cardigan in the heart of Wales. I believe in quality. I’m proud of everything Jam stands for and everything I make :)
