An outdoor lamp throwing fantastic shadows, a table rocking modern marquetry and elegant swivel chairs – these six designs have just arrived.
“What’s new? What’s fresh?” you’re asking? We have the answers, at least when it comes to the latest furniture and lighting designs. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite new launches from our partner brands this month. It’s actually just a snapshot of the millions of products you can discover in our vast catalogue of products. But you have to start somewhere, right?
Caule 3 Nest Floor Lamp by Flos
Designer Patricia Urquiola created the new Caule 3 Nest outdoor floor light for Italian lighting specialist Flos. The stripped-back aesthetic of the piece featuring an arched stem and a tubular luminaire is an abstract interpretation of a flower. When switched on, the small LED elements in the cylindrical grid made from stainless steel illuminate the surroundings with interlocking circles of light.
Tavla extendable dining table by Petite Friture
Frech design duo Studio Pool, founded by Léa Padovani and Sébastien Kieffer, studied the patterns of carefully crafted backgammon boards for their new extendable table. Named Tavla and produced by Petite Friture, the obround piece features a geometric marquetry pattern made from walnut wood inlays in two contrasting shades.
AAC 33 Eco Dining Chair by Hay
Danish brand Hay has added a new, more sustainably produced version of its popular About A dining chair, the ECO series. Designed by Hee Welling, the seat shell is made from 30% recycled plastic made from plastic waste that is collected in the factory during the About A production process. The wooden base is made from solid FSC-certified oak and treated with a water-based finish. It’s also EU Ecolabel certified.
Jiro Swivel Chair by Resident
New Zealand furniture and lighting brand Resident teamed up with John Tree to develop the new Jiro swivel chair. The British designer stripped back the classic office chair to offer a contemporary yet comfortable alternative suitable for desk stations or conference rooms. The low backrest is made from oak plywood in a natural or black finish, while the four-star base comes in black and white with optional casters.
Silhuet Pendant Light by Fritz Hansen
Mid-century designer Jo Hammerborg would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year and in honour of this anniversary, Fritz Hansen has reissued his Silhuet pendant. The wide round brass shade – available in a matte or polished finish – tapers gently towards the top, to which a fabric cord is attached. To commemorate the designer’s centenary, Hammerborg’s signature is engraved in the inside of the shade.
Kuppi Wall Light by Woud
Woud has recently brightened up the Kuppi wall light collection, originally created by Finnish designer Mika Tolvanen, and added this version in a sunny yellow. The voluminous, round shade gives the design a sculptural feel and thanks to the removable diffusor it creates a gentle shine.
