National Carnival Arts Centre
- Designed by: Ash Sakula Architects
- Category: Commercial design
- Location: Luton, United Kingdom
We are building a Carnival Arts Centre in Luton, a hitherto unknown building type which aims to become a centre of excellence for carnival arts with an international reach. The £4.5m centre, Arts Council and ERDF funded, will contain spaces for making, learning and performing carnival. At its heart will be a mas camp where masquerade costumes are designed, created and made. This space will double as a showcase for music and performance. Supporting it will be high tech workshops, teaching spaces, music areas, offices, a crèche and a café. The building is on the University campus and immediately adjacent to Luton’s finest building, the grade 1 listed St Mary’s Church. Completion of the centre is programmed for 2008
