Aylesbury Fire Station
- Designed by: Corstorphine + Wright
- Category: Commercial design
- Location: Aylesbury, United Kingdom
The new three bay fire station and headquarters building with office and ancilliary accommodation at Stocklake, Aylesbury forms part of a comprehensive development for The Junction Limited Partnership. The accommodation consists of appliance bays, meeting rooms, dormitories, changing and locker rooms, a kitchen, dining room and fitness room at ground level with office and IT accommodation at first floor level. The scheme also provides a separate workshop building with specialist lifting equipment. The complex includes a range of environmental features, such as a sustainable drainage system (SUDS) for the car park, a tank beneath the concrete drill yard to collect water for reuse during exercises, clerestory and rooflights in the engine bay and workshops to provide natural daylighting, PIR (person in room) lighting controls to reduce energy consumption and materials selected for their durability and low maintenance. Practical completion of the new fire station buidings was achieved on 18 April 2005, with occupation by the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire Authority taking place the next day, leaving the old fire station to be demolished to make way for the extension to the Cambridge Close Retail Park.
