  • Educate your kids with good design

We all want to have the best for our children - everything that surrounds them must be of best quality and design. It is important not only for their health, but also for their emotional well being, for their visual stimulation and education.
Midsummer is a good time to think of renovating our kids' rooms - vacation will be soon over.
If you have kids, you're probably shopping for school supplies and taking a few days off in the next few weeks to prepare before they go back to school.
Simple changes like new paint and small accessories can be enough sometimes. But if you need to change the furniture, then more time and attention is required.
What is the difference between design for adults and design for children? Both should be of good quality and function, but for children it is obligatory to design with imagination! Then design is successful. And a pleasure to look at and live with.
It is not only that children deserve good design, but also we should always have in mind that what surrounds them creates their taste and esthetics for their life on. We all have certain memories and images that define our attitudes in life and influence our choices that have their roots in childhood. I have learnt that from experience with clients. So we should be very careful what we choose for their rooms. Furniture and the whole room of your children should stimulate creativity and personal growth.
Inspiration, magic and feeling of being special - all these are necessary elements of children rooms and furniture design. There are endless possibilities to turn their rooms into a fairy tale scene or the most attractive play ground.
A child's room can be one of the most challenging rooms in the house to redo also considering the fast pace in which kids are growing. That is why we should try to choose flexible furniture that grows with our children, that is also durable, safe and of good design
Safety is the other major factor to consider - if you like the appearance of something, but it has sharp corners or is made of materials that are not known or not sertified for low or no volatile emissions - better not buy them.
In many cases two or more children share a bedroom for at least some of their childhood years. It is important to create a room that all of them will find relaxing, welcoming and fun, where each one of them has his/her personal space.
Choosing colors for your childrens room is important and it is good to let them participate. Most of them would choose bright colors, such as fuchsia, lime green, deep purple or red. The problem with these colors is that they can sometimes prevent children from resting peacefully in the bedroom. That is why usually we prefer to use soothing colors in the bedroom, such as pale blue, green or neutrals. The best solution for childrens' rooms is combining bold colors and neutrals - in this way you can still create a soothing, but young and fun look.

  • Decoration is easy and fun, at least it should be - especially for your children's room. Let them participate and make their choices. One of the most easy ways to decorate the room is with wall appliques.
