Building Light
Polycarbonate is a versatile, tough plastic used for a variety of applications, from bulletproof windows to CDs. The main advantage of polycarbonate over other types of plastic is unbeatable strength combined with light weight. In contemporary architecture, polycarbonate is mainly appreciated for its tender translucency, lightness, manageability and relatively low cost, which has also granted it an honourable place in the pantheon of sustainable building materials. In addition, the use of polycarbonate panels in residential and public architecture has been exploited very little so far, so there is still an exciting sense of novelty attached to the material.
